I’m seriously disappointed with the over experience of using this app. However, I'm aware there's a v2 series out there so would probably opt for one of those (including the new app). Now I have the upgraded firmware installed, I'm very happy with the cam and would recommend.

During the upgrade, all cam settings will be reset back to default so make sure to set them back after.

Alternatively, copy the contents of the existing card to a PC, format the card, perform the upgrade, then transfer them back afterwards.

If you're worried about losing any previously stored footage, you can use a new/different SD card.

After formatting the card in the cam, transferring the files, and restarting the device, it worked perfectly.

I tried to format the card twice via Windows but just kept getting an, 'Invalid card.' error. Before using an SD card to install the upgrade, you should format the card in the cam itself.

After following the instructions, the cam operates perfectly now. However, using a little common sense, I checked the Nextbase website and found a firmware update. But, also like many others, I have experienced connection issues where I'd connect to the WIFI but the app didn't recognise it and kept diverting me to the connection settings. I bought this dash cam for, like many others, the ability to connect via WIFI to view and download clips. If you're having connection issues, update the firmware
